About This Spot

Stepping into The Blue Room is like slipping through a secret door into a slice of Burbank's local rhythm—unpretentious, a little weathered, and alive with quiet stories. The modest neon sign hums softly outside, inviting those who appreciate a space where time seems to slow and conversations feel unhurried. This is a classic cocktail bar that wears its 1947 roots with a laid-back charm, marked by vintage wood, dim lighting, and that unmistakable hum of an AMI jukebox spinning out familiar tunes.

The atmosphere here is relaxed but buzzing just enough to keep the night moving—a feeling that visitors often mention when they come back for the warm, human moments that fill the room. There’s a comforting informality to the layout: stools, snug tables, and tight spaces that somehow encourage coming together, whether you’re with longtime friends or a first date. The air carries a faint trace of nostalgia, balanced by the hum of ongoing stories and laughter.

Behind the bar, the menu quietly supports the mood, with a mix of no-frills cocktails and a few playful surprises that hint at the personality behind the counter. An Old Fashioned feels right at home here, sturdy and familiar. A Peanut Butter and Jelly shot sparks a grin and a sense of adventure, while refreshing options like the Moscow Mule or a crisp Baja-style Mexican beer provide light relief after a long day. It’s a place that understands simplicity—no flashy gimmicks, just good drinks and good company.

The Blue Room’s cash-only policy and snug, slightly retro interior only deepen the sense that this isn’t just a nightspot but a local refuge. Whether you’re winding down after an evening at a nearby event, seeking a chill place to gather, or simply craving a slice of authentic Burbank, The Blue Room offers an atmosphere that feels honest and genuine—an unpolished gem where each visit folds seamlessly into its long and ongoing story.

A stellar cash-only dive bar that seems to get it's own share of action. I was on a date and we came after hitting the Haunted Hayride about 7 min away. I'm pretty sure I was about to get hit on by two women but after grabbing my date's hand on the way out, I heard one say to the other "oh, he's on a date". Weird but oddly felt ordinary from a place like this. I remember overhearing a woman say "I love being married!" then leave the place with someone I'm sure wasn't her husband. They have a big liquor selection and a Wi-Fi type jukebox to play whatever you want. The blue booths stand out and the whole theme of the place reminds me of a ship anchored to a port, it's like you stepped into a Captain's ship. I like that they have a food truck outside so if you get hungry they allow you to bring food in while you drink. The bathroom was clean and out of paper towels but luckily I saw the bartender going into the stock room, so i told him and he thanked me and changed it right away. Good place to stop and get a drink.

Thank you for being a cash only bar! The rest of this town is skimping out by being card only! I agree that yours is a classic joint! Keep it up.

Step into The Blue Room, a legendary cocktail lounge that has been around since 1947. This classic dive bar offers an impressive selection of liquors and cold beers, along with an accommodating staff and an AMI Jukebox that adds to the ambiance. Make sure to bring cash, as this bar doesn't accept credit or debit cards, but the experience is well worth it. There is an ATM in the back. #TheBlueRoom #DiveBar #burbank #classiccocktaillounge

Cash only! There's an ATM inside in case you need it. We stopped by here to kill some time before we had to fly out. Great spot to chill inside where it's laid back and has AC. Restrooms were a bit of a tight space but it makes sense considering that this this dive bar is from the 1940s. Plenty of spots to sit but the tables and chairs can also be a bit of a tight space as well. There's a jukebox for music and a TV you can watch sports on. Drinks were fairly priced and strong enough to give a slight buzz before we headed out to the airport. Bartender was very friendly and told my husband some history of the the bar. They have live music during the weeknights, which is pretty cool. Stevie Wonder had performed here last year and this bar has been used in a few movies too. There is a parking lot in the back so two different entrances to get inside. It's worth checking out if you love dive bars. We'd come back again.

An absolute classic bar! I’ve been meaning to get here for years, and glad I finally did! Such amazing cocktails, service, and atmosphere! I will be back!

First time to experience this Burbank dive bar and I would be a regular here if I lived in the area. It’s like stepping into a mid-century modern movie set from the 1960’s. Everything is blue, the lighting, the seats. Drinks are not overly pricey. They do have a back patio if you are looking for that. Very clean and not crazy crowded on a Saturday. The bartenders and patrons and very nice and lively. That vintage neon sign out front sets the tone for the whole experience. I really had a great experience with my friends here. Fun times!
